Sardar Patel Gujarat Stadium at Motera will witness the mini final of ICC Cricket World Cup 2011, when two top teams Australia and India will be taking on each other.
Australia has just faced their first defeat in the World Cup after a long winning streak of 34 matches, whereas the Indians are still struggling with their batting. Not once but many times the team has collapsed all at sudden. Against South Africa, India lost their last nine wickets for 29 runs; against England they lost their last seven for 33; and against West Indies their last seven were skittled for 50.
But something which will relief the Indian side is the return of Virender Sehwag, who has been declared fit for the game. Sehwag earlier had to miss the game with West Indies on fitness grounds.
On the other hand Ponting goes into the match with his position as captain in doubt.
The Sydney Morning Herald claimed on Tuesday that there was stiff opposition at boardroom level to the 36-year-old retaining the job for next month's tour of Bangladesh, although his position as a player was not in jeopardy.
"We need to be looking at the future. It's time for us to make a change," the newspaper quoted the official as saying.
