Wayne rooney gets another bad news that his recovery from the ankle injury will take more time than expected. The striker was expected to return in the lineup against their city rivals Manchester City but Sir Alex today confirmed that Rooney will be out from the Manchester derby.

Liverpool just cannot get out from the headlines these days. News of star players leaving Liverpool has been in the press for quite a long time now. However, new co-owner John W. Henry said this about the situation of star players.

“We intend to build on the strength of the current squad, not undermine it. And I can reassure our supporters that we have no intention of allowing the team to be weakened going forward.Kevin Nolan, New Castle midfielder today backed the manager, Chris Hughton. The position of Hughton came under intense speculation especially after their 4-0 loss at home against Arsenal in the carling cup. However, the club captain has came in press and totally backed the under fire manager. He said

"No matter what happens on Sunday we are going to still be 110 per cent behind Chris Hughton,"

"For the statements, for anything else we don't care what anyone else says outside. As a group of players, as a squad, as a staff and I believe as fans too we believe we are going in the right direction and the main focal point and the main leader in that is Chris Hughton.

"I think the talk is absolutely ridiculous on him having to win a game to stay in his job, it is absolutely ridiculous.

"No matter what we want to see Chris Hughton in charge of us and we believe we are going in the right way with him in charge of us."

News of the day came from Barcelona where the sporting director Andoni Zubizarreta of the club announced that Pep Guardiola is committed with Barcelona with a long term project and dismissed the link which connected Pep to take over Manchester United hot seat after Sir Alex decides to retire. He said"If Ferguson is thinking that way, he has excellent taste,"  "But everybody knows the ties Guardiola has with Barca, which go far beyond the contract he has."Zubizarreta further reassured supporters by adding: "There is nothing we are keeping (from people) and nothing holding us back – we are working on a long-term project."
