Trotters Thrash Everton

Bolton Wanderers keep their European ambitions alive with a classic 2-0 victory over Everton at the Reebok stadium. Gary Cahill headed Bolton infront by converting Stuart Holden’s free kick which also took a wicked deflection from Johnny Heitinga. Cahill was also involved in the second goal for Bolton as he passed the ball to Chung-Yong Lee who then assisted Sturrdige who neatly finished to score his third goal for the club in his 3^rd appearance. It was a perfect result for Bolton who looked to regain their top form as they suffered 5 defeats in last 7 games. Victory sees Trotters close in on seventh placed Sunderland while miserable Everton are placed on 13^th just above the relegation zone.

Bolton got a dream start when Cahill scored on a header from free kick. Everton responded in a good fashion and Tim Cahill who returned from representing Australia in the Asian Cup should have scored but he missed the target on a cross from left back Baines. Bolton were forced to make a change just before the half hour mark with defender Zat Knight not able to take further part in the game. David Wheater a January signing replaced Knight in Bolton back four.

Second half started with Bolton playing on front foot. Manager Owen Coyle freshen up the things on the hour mark with Chung-Yong Lee replacing Matt Taylor and he played his part in providing the assist to on loan striker Daniel Sturridge who superbly finished to give Bolton a comfortable lead on the night. 2-0 was the final score as Trotters secured their 9^th win of the season. While Bolton celebrate their win there are big concerns for Everton as they have secured only two away wins all season.

Daniel Sturridge was man of the match as he scored 3^rd goal for Bolton in as many games since joining them on loan from Chelsea. The arrival of young striker means that they are closing in on European places with just one point separating them from Sunderland who are occupying the last European place.
