Every season we have surprising names in the race for the golden boot in premier league. Last season, Darren Bent was the surprise name as he scored 24 league goals for a mid table team Sunderland. Didier Drogba won the golden boot last season scoring 29 goals for Chelsea. However, the new season has started so let’s have a look on the top 5 candidates for the golden boot this season.

Didier Drogba:
No one can rule out this man for the golden boot. He has started the season in top form scoring 4 goals in 3 matches. So, we can say that the powerful forward is determined to get another golden boot as well as guiding Chelsea to second successive premier league title.

Fernando Torres:
Liverpool’s number 9 Fernando Torres is always a threat for the opposing team even if he is not in the top form. The star striker is currently healing from a series of injuries and if he can stay fit for 30 games then surely he will be the winner of the golden boot this season.

Wayne Rooney:
Wayne Rooney is a goal scoring machine. We all know that. However, the young striker is out of form at the moment but there is no doubt that he will regain his best form and will start to score goals for Manchester United.

Carlos Tevez:
Versatile forward Carlos Tevez is also one of the top candidates to clinch golden boot this season. Many experts have question marks over his goal scoring ability but this season with the likes of David Silva and Adam Johnson on wings, Carlos Tevez is expected to score a lot of goals.

Robin Van Persie:
Remember him? Yes, he is Robin Van Persie. Unfortunately, he remained injured from December 2009 to the end of the season but he is back now and raring to go. He was scoring for fun last season before he got a serious injury which sidelined him for the remainder of the season. If Arsenal wants to wins the title then the form of this striker is absolutely crucial for them.
