Is Liverpool going to be another English Giant to Fall?

We are aware with many teams who were great in the past. If we look into English football then Nottingham Forest and Leeds United fits perfectly in this category. Teams like Ajax, Celtic, Juventus, Porto and many others from all across Europe can also be taken into this category. All of these teams can be called as lost giants in the European football. We haven’t seen Ajax performing well in the European Competitions for a long time whereas Leeds United who were the semi finalists of the champions League in 2002 is now playing in the lower divisions of English Football. All of these teams have their own tragic reasons for their downfalls but these days Liverpool who have won champions league 5 times is in danger of a similar situation. So the question which arises here is that is Liverpool going to be another European and English giant to fall?
We can say that omens are not looking good for Liverpool. They had a marvelous 2008-2009 campaign finishing 2nd just 4 points behind the champions Manchester United but 2009-2010 campaign proved to be a disaster for the Reds as they finished 7th and missed on the champions league place. Long serving manager Rafael Benitez left after the season and many star players were on the verge of leaving as well. However, some players did left and one of the major expected losses in players is Javier Mascherano who is on the verge of signing for Barcelona but star duo of Steven Gerrard and Fernando Torres did commit their futures with Liverpool.
Things are not looking good for Liverpool especially after their loss against Manchester City because now they are already 5 points behind league leaders Chelsea with just two games gone. Liverpool do have great players like Gerrard, Torres and Cole etc but they are unable to perform at the moment and if they are unable to perform better then we can say that Liverpool will struggle again to get into top 4 because the emergence of Spurs and City have casted a real negative impact on Reds league position. If they fail to finish in top 4 this season then surely there will be a mass exodus from the club. Players like Gerrard and Fernando Torres will surely leave the club. Although, Liverpool still have a good squad but they have to perform well in order to get into top 4. So, we can say that a top 4 finish is a must for Liverpool this season because if they are unable to finish in top 4 then it would certainly become impossible for them to convince top players to stay at the club. New manager Roy Hodgson did installed a feel good factor in the club after his clever signings in the transfer market this year.

We can say that everything is not lost for Liverpool. They have a full campaign ahead of them and if they are able to sign a quality attacking player with the money which is now available after Mascherano’s transfer then we can say that they can finish in top 4. If they are able to finish in top 4 then most probably star players will not leave. All of us know that Liverpool do have a good squad and good talent so if they are able to finish in top 4 then everything can become good again for Liverpool because with this squad, new manager Roy Hodgson will be able to add more faces especially after the takeover of the club is completed.

This is certainly the most difficult time in illustrious history of Liverpool and if they are able to get out of it then we will definitely see a new and transformed Liverpool with a bigger stadium and a good transfer kitty because expected new owners have already planned to give manager decent money for transfers. However, if Liverpool is unable to get out of this then we can say that there is a great possibility of Liverpool falling.
