Match Report and Highlights – Manchester United 8-2 Arsenal

Published on August 28, 2011 by   ·   2 Comments

Arsenal and Wenger are probably at rock bottom as Manchester United show no mercy against Gunners and pile up more misery on them by registering a mammoth 8-2 win at Old Trafford on Sunday.

Wayne Rooney scored a hat trick. Two from beautifully taken free kicks and one from the penalty spot. Winger Ashley Young scored two fantastic long range goals whereas Park JI Sung, Danny Welbeck and Nani completed the riot for Red Devils.

Theo Walcott and Robin Van Persie only scored two consolation goals for Gunners and matters were made worse when young right back Jenkinson was sent off late in the second half. Van Persie also missed the opportunity to equalize for Gunners in the first half when he missed an easy penalty. Things could have been different if Van Persie had scored but United never looked back after that and produced probably performance of the season already. It will be a win which will live infamy for United fans for years to years come. It is the heaviest defeat for Arsenal under Arsene Wenger and it probably might pile more and more pressure on the manager who is heavily criticized off not buying top players in the transfer market.
