Terrific performance accompanied with a well-deserved goal has earned Danny Welbeck is our player of the week.

The 20-year-old shined against Tottenham answering to why he was preferred over many by Sir Alex. After a goal-less first half, in the 61^st minute of the game, Welbeck gave Manchester United the lead by a commanding header off Cleverly’s cross.  The youngster looked full of confidence when he almost scored another with an overhead kick. The second goal looked inevitable but it was scored with some style: Welbeck setting it up for Anderson with a lovely backheel. His 81^stminute substitution saw him getting a joyful reception from the capacity ManUtd fans, but this is just a start for the emerging talent. He looks a much more complete, improved and stylish player than what he was when loaned to Sunderland. Even the great Alex Ferguson was full of praise for him, saying: "Danny is a big, rangy, long-legged boy who can gallop really quickly.

"Once he gets his legs going he is quick. He is a good footballer and has a great attitude when he loses the ball.

"He has always had ability but made slow progress because when he was growing he had a bit of a knee growth problem, so we knew we had to wait for him.

"We put him on loan to Sunderland last season and that is when he became a man. He has grown up. He is still only 20 years of age and the lad has a great future."

And the English talent has left Fergie with a selection dilemma.

The title race for English Premier League is on its climax with three teams fighting hard for the holy crown in English football. As expected Manchester United, Arsenal and Chelsea are doing their best to win with Manchester City and Tottenham Hotspur fighting for the all important 4^th Champions League place. A big disappointment came from Liverpool but they are also back on track with Kenny Dalglish taking Reds in the right direction.

League table looks like this on 22^nd April 2011.

As it stands, Manchester United are closing in on a record breaking 19^th league title with both Chelsea and Arsenal 6 points behind. With only 5 league games to go, its Red Devils title to lose because Sir Alex would have been happy if you would have asked him at start of the season about playing last 5 games of the season with Arsenal and Chelsea 6 points behind.

So as the season approaches its climax, let us look the chances for all the three teams.

Manchester United

As already said, Manchester United are on a good track to secure record breaking 19^th premier league title.  However, they only need to pass one final hurdle before they can overtake Liverpool’s record of 18 English league titles. That one hurdle is two key matches against Arsenal at Emirates stadium and Chelsea at Old Trafford.

The remaining three matches for United are against Everton, Blackburn Rovers and Blackpool and most importantly they meet Blackpool who are struggling for their survival in premier league in last game of the season at Old Trafford.  

They face Everton at Old Trafford this weekend who have proved to be a boogie team for Red Devils in recent seasons. Earlier this season, two teams played out an amazing 3-3 draw at Goodison park. Although, Everton have not performed well in this season but they have recently found their form and can prove to be a tough opposition.

After Everton, they face Arsenal and Chelsea in the premier league. Only a small matter of champions league semi final against Schalke04 is sandwiched between the two massive games. United have already lost semi final of the FA cup against Manchester City and if they are unable to perform well in these 4 matches then Red Devils are surely going to suffer a disappointing season again.

Chelsea

Blues started the season in a superb fashion but mid season slump had almost but ended their dreams of defending their title. The decision to sack assistant manager Ray Wilkins proved to be a disaster as players morale was affected by the sack decision. So far flop signing of Fernando Torres from Liverpool also affected Blues as the Spaniard’s inability to score goals damaged Didier Drogba’s  confidence upfront. However, with Arsenal and United dropping points Chelsea are now right back in the title race.

They face West Ham United, Tottenham Hotspur and Newcastle United at home whereas Manchester United and Everton are the other two away fixtures for the Blues. However, Chelsea have to tackle a must win game against Manchester United and if they are not able to win against United then all chances of defending their title would fade.  A big bonus for Chelsea is that they are not involved in champions league anymore. So they could really expose United by taking their hectic schedule.

Arsenal

Most of the pundits have already ruled out Arsenal from the title race because they have severely suffered a massive confidence blow. League cup final loss against Birmingham City along with elimination in champions league from Barcelona have affected Gunners on a real negative note. They have drawn their last 4 games due to which the gap between them and league leaders Manchester United is now 6 points.

However, they have got a golden chance of getting back into the title race by defeating Red Devils at Emirates stadium. Just like Chelsea, Wenger’s team could really haunt United title bid by registering a big win against United especially with Red Devils involved in champions league.

So it’s the climax of the premier league season and we could expect more highs and lows for the three teams involved in the title race. So experience all the action towards the closing stages of the premier league with watchprem. We will broadcast each and every match towards the end of the season in order to experience a nail biting premier league finish.

Arsene Wenger needs to change his own footballing philosophy in his quest to get silverware in 6 long years. Gunners missed the opportunity to narrow down the gap between them and league leaders Manchester United to just 4 points when they were held to a 1-1 draw against Liverpool. Initially they took the lead on 98^th minute from a Robin Van Persie penalty but conceded a penalty of their own when Eboue pushed Lucas down in the penalty area only for Dirk Kuyt to score the equalizer.

Arsene Wenger criticized referee to add a massive injury time but in my opinion, Wenger has to blame his side for conceding a soft penalty. Lucas was going nowhere when Eboue fouled him in the penalty area. Whether it was a penalty or not that is another debate but what was the need for Eboue to push Lucas inside the box? Moreover, Wenger blamed refree Andre Marriner to add 8 minutes of extra time but Mr Wenger when did Robin Van Persie scored? It was the 98^th minute of the match. So you cant blame the referee for this. If he would have added only 2 to 3 minutes as you have said even then it would have been a 0-0 draw. So Arsene, you might have taken Arsenal to a different level in football philosophy but you have to stop blaming others for the inexperienced shows of your side.

Now truly, I am also fed up with the tag of young and inexperienced side! Ok Arsenal’s squad may have been the youngest but my God aren’t they experienced? Take club captain Cesc Fabregas. He has already won Euro 2008 and World cup 2010, so how much experience you want from your players? Is he inexperienced?  He has been playing for Gunners for at least 6 full seasons now. Now tell me how much experience do you want from your players? Ok Liverpool haven’t done pretty well in recent seasons but a 17 year old left back Jack Robinson completely outplayed Theo Walcott on the right wing. Now tell me again who is inexperienced? Jack Robinson who was playing in his first match for Liverpool senior team? Or Theo Walcott who has played in a world cup and narrowly missed in another. Take Samir Nasri, Robin Van Persie, Arshavin and Abu Diaby as well. Aren’t they experienced players who have played in huge competitions like Euro’s and World Cups? Arsene, you can’t blame anyone after your side drew with Sunderland a team who has taken only one point in its last 9 games and that was against Arsenal.

So in my point of view, Arsene needs to kick some stuff J because so called inexperienced players have now got experience and now they need to start performing by winning silverware. 

Yes in my opinion Gareth Bale doesn’t deserve to be the PFA player of the year. You may question why? Here is the answer

Only One Assist in the whole premier league season!!! Yes you may find it astonishing but it is true. He is level on assists with Wigan’s keeper Ali Al-Habsi who also has one assist to his name. I am not against Gareth Bale nor I am an Anti Spurs fan but this is something which is really irritating for me at least. Just a single assist and 7 league goals makes Bale the PFA player of the year.

All media and football pundits have been praising Bale for his two performances against Inter Milan in the champions league.  Now does that mean, any player would get the player of the year award for just two performances in which he scores a hat trick and another hat trick of assists. This is just ridiculous for me at least. I would love to have opinion of you people on this. Especially Spurs fans

Now according to me, one out of Nemanja Vidic, Carlos Tevez and Samir Nasri should have gotten the player of the year award.  Its not only they have performed brilliantly in some matches but they have maintained the level of their performances throughout the season.  Nemanja Vidic, well what you can say about this man, he has led his team from front and has been a rock solid at the back for United. With Ferdinand facing long spells on the sidelines, it was Vidic who guided young defender Chris Smalling.

Samir Nasri with his 9 goals also has played an integral part in Arsenal’s hunt for silverware. Although , he has not guided Gunners to silverware yet but he is having a better season than Bale at least.

Carlos Tevez is my last option for PFA player of the year. How? 19 league goals in premier league so far. The man from South America has single handedly helped City to get into a top position of securing champions league spot. I would like to end this discussion by giving some stats.

Edin Dzeko, Mario Balotelli and Jo have a combined total of 17 goals whereas Tevez alone has 19 goals to his name in premier league. Now this is what we call a player of the year with great performances throughout the campaign. However, Gareth Bale due to his only two performances in the champions league is the PFA player of the year. Just cant believe it!!!!!!
